Sometimes it’s hard to avoid being part of the artwork, though it’s possible to wear a slight disguise. A uniform can help.
MOULD
The Museum Of Ubiquitous Living Detritus took place in The Galleries Shopping Centre, Bristol. The two curators collected donations from shoppers, things they had forgotten in their pockets and bags. Stories about the objects were carefully, but not always accurately, recorded and curated into a new museum. Tours were given.
Invigilating at the museum.
LUNCHTIME PARK
A mobile park appeared in The Galleries Shopping Centre, Bristol every day between 12 and 2pm. It consisted of a tree in blossom, flowering, scented plants around a lawn, birdsong, and a park bench, which people used to sit and eat their lunch and enjoy the view.
THE LINE REGISTER
Visitors to Spike Island Studios were invited to ‘register’ by drawing a line along the entrance wall. A ‘barcode’ was later selected by painting out all but a vertical strip, retaining a tiny portion of each person’s line.
